Features and FPGA images

In the Link-Capture™ Software 12.8 release the NT40E3-4-PTP SmartNIC contains two different FPGA images, a capture image (default) and a capture/replay image. The Link-Capture™ Software 12.8 release also supports the NT40E3-4-PTP-C2 SmartNIC, which contains a capture/replay 2 image (default) and a capture image. This table shows the features that differ between the capture image, the capture/replay image and the capture/replay 2 image.

Feature Capture Image Capture/Replay Image Capture/Replay 2 Image
Timed host-based transmission - X X
Local retransmission - X X
Limited low-rate transmission X - -
Deduplication X - X
Start-of-frame time stamps X - X
VN-Tag classification X - X
Decoding of Cisco FabricPath encapsulated frames X - X
Flow match filter based on key test X X -
IP fragment handling X X -

Apart from these differences the rest of the features are the same in all three images.

See DN-0487 for an explanation of how to switch between the capture image and the capture/replay image in an NT40E3-4-PTP SmartNIC and between the capture/replay 2 image and the capture image in an NT40E3-4-PTP-C2 SmartNIC.
