In this chapter
This chapter describes the limited host-based transmission functionality, which enables DMA-based transmission of frames located in a host buffer in the server application memory.
Note: This chapter only applies to NT200A01 running on the 2 × 100 Gbit/s capture image and
to NT40E3-4-PTP running on the capture image.
Transmission performance
The limited TX functionality consumes a significant amount of CPU resources if large amounts of data are transmitted. The performance depends on the server system. Line rate cannot be obtained. For 64-byte frames the throughput is around 40 Mbit/s.
Transmission API
The limited TX functionality is activated using the NT_NetTxOpen function (see DN-0449).
Note: It is not possible to configure timing between the transmitted packets, for instance
to preserve the inter-frame gap.
