Detailed Description

Introduction

Receiving or transmitting data with Napatech Software Suite is performed via the Network Stream, which has 3 stream types to; receive, transmit, and read captured files data.
The Network Stream can be used with both a Packet Interface and a Segment Interface. The packet interface provides features that the segment interface cannot provide where Adapter Merge is the most important. However, the segment interface provides an optimal store-to-disk solution because huge chunks of data can be stored as one large contiguous chunk.

Host Buffers

The Network Stream uses host buffers to receive/transmit packets. A host buffer is defined as a group of segments, and a segment is a DMA memory chunk allocated by the low level driver in a contiguous memory.
