Size information
Information about the size of the frame is provided in extended packet descriptor 9.
Small frames
A frame is classified as small if the frame size is less than 64 bytes.
Jumbo frames
A frame is classified as a jumbo frame if the frame is an EtherII frame, and the frame size is larger than 1518 bytes, plus 30 bytes if the frame is ISL-encapsulated, plus 4 bytes for each VLAN tag, MPLS shim label or VN-Tag that is present.
Large frames
A frame is classified as a large frame if one of conditions are met:
- The frame is a jumbo frame, and the frame size is larger than the maximum frame size in bytes determined by the MaxFrameSize parameter in the ntservice.ini file (see MaxFrameSize and ntservice.ini file in DN-0449), plus 30 bytes if the frame is ISL-encapsulated, plus 4 bytes for each VLAN tag, MPLS shim label or VN-Tag that is present.
- The frame is not an EtherII frame (and thereby not a jumbo frame), and the frame size is larger than 1518 bytes, plus 30 bytes if the frame is ISL-encapsulated, plus 4 bytes for each VLAN tag, MPLS shim label or VN-Tag that is present.
