pps_ptp

The pps_ptp tool is used to enable and monitor the PPS PTP functionality on adapters that are enabled for running PPS time synchronization and with PTP capability. It takes TOD from the running PTP adapter combined with the incoming PPS signal.

Syntax

pps_ptp [ -h | --help]

Commands
Command Description
-h | --help Displays the help

Initialization

All initialization for PPS and PTP is done using the ntservice.ini file. Set the PtpPpsSampling to ENABLE and configure the PTP parameters normally. TimeSyncReferencePriority may not include PTP. The configuration is set when starting the service. It is not possible to change PPS or PTP settings dynamically.

Functionality

When the pps_ptp tool is started, PPS on all cards configured to run PPS will be enabled. If the pps_ptp tool is stopped correctly, the PPS functionality will be disabled again, otherwise the PPS synchronization will continue to run.

Example

  • Start PPS timesync on all PPS configured cards with PTP support:
